Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Cunningham

Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Cunningham was called to Stouffville United Church in September 2014, previously having served for 11 years at the neighbouring Mount Albert United Church. She brings with her a love of worship, a deep commitment to pastoral care, a delight in working with youth, and a dedication to writing relevant, meaningful sermons. Elizabeth was ordained in 2003, and received her MDiv from Emmanuel College. Her undergraduate BA is from the University of Toronto, Victoria College in English/Fine Arts.  In 2020, Elizabeth received her Doctorate of Ministry in Preaching Program at Chicago Theological Seminary. Elizabeth has an ARCT in Piano Performance and brings with her a love of music to her ministry. Elizabeth serves on the Toronto United Church Council (TUCC) Steering Group for the Centre for Church Development and Leadership (CCDL). Elizabeth lives on a farm near Mount Albert with her husband Keith. Elizabeth has four children from a previous marriage, James, Kathryn, Lauren and Elyse, all employed and enjoying life! Elizabeth enjoys bird-watching, photography and gardening.

Courtney Britton
Music and Choir Director

Courtney has been singing and playing piano for as long as she can remember. She was a member of the Amabile Youth Singers for almost 10 years and it was there that her decision to make music a life and not just a hobby was solidified. While a member of Amabile, Courtney recorded several CD's and went on performing tours of England, Scotland, Wales, Greece, and Canada's East Coast. Growing up in the Presbyterian church, Courtney was also the music director of the Anglican church in her hometown for 2 years. Courtney obtained her Honours Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Windsor in 2005 and her Bachelor of Education from OISE/UT in 2006. Courtney currently teaching Grade 2 at Joseph Gould PS in Uxbridge. Upon moving to Stouffville in August 2009, Courtney quickly became involved in the music scene around town, participating in Music Mania, filling in occasionally to accompany Bach to Blues and Men of Note, and playing in church. She is now the principal accompanist for Men of Note. Courtney still lives in Stouffville with her husband Jason, their beautiful daughters Daphne and Lucy, and their black lab, Roxanne.

Lisa Harvey
Children’s Worship Leader

Lisa grew up in Stouffville, and Stouffville United Church has been a big part of her life growing up. She has watched many children grow up and leave to follow their dreams. Teaching Children's Worship and looking after the babies for many years, made her love working and being around children. That is why she has took on the role as Children's Worship Coordinator in 2014. She also volunteers her time with other roles in the Church. Lisa has always had a passion working with children. She loves watching the children's faith and belief in God grow stronger each year, teaching them different stories in the bible. She lives in Stouffville with her husband Dante and three children, Luis, Malcolm and Chelsea. 

Peggy Kugler
Office Administrator

Peggy’s journey at Stouffville United began in September 2012 as the Office Administrator. In conjunction with Rev. Elizabeth, she prepares the bulletins, announcements, weekly e-mails the “what’s new” and other materials for the weekly worship services. As well as welcoming guests and answering inquires, this role offers a lovely mix of varied duties including routine accounting procedures, assisting Rev. Elizabeth and the Church Treasurer, as well as being creative when putting together the announcements. She provides clerical and administrative support to the various church committees and groups.

Nikki Devereux
Communications Coordinator

Nikki Devereux is our Communication Coordinator, made possible by Creating Community for All (CCFA) initiatives and the New Ministries Grant from the United Church of Canada Foundation. She is developing and maintaining a Communication’s Hub that has enhance our communication outreach both with our congregation and into our broader community of Stouffville.
Nikki has been an active member of our church congregation for over ten years, along with her husband, Chris and boys, Tyler(University), Alexander(Secondary school) and Bradley(Intermediate in Grade School). She continues to volunteer her time with Children’s Worship, Messy Church and a variety of other church activities and committees.

Brian and Theresa Carr

Brian and Theresa have been the caretakers of the church for over fifteen years. As well as general cleaning of the rooms, they work on maintaining our beautiful old building with the help and support of the Property Committee.
