This book was the one that started our church book club.  It contains a lot of “food for thought”.  Perhaps it is time to reread it or discover its wisdom.

CHRISTIANITY FOR THE REST OF US by Diana Butler Bass

Written by one of my favourite authors, this book shares thoughts based on research about the growth/decline of the Christian church and its relevance to us today in light of the changes happening in our own United Church.

A thriller!  Set in the late 80s, this novel tells the story of sercret agent, Bernard Samson, as he reunites with his wife and starts a new mission from London during the Cold War.

A THOUSAND SPLENDID SUNS by Khaled Hosseini

Written by the same author who wrote “The Kite Runner”, this book is also set in Afghanistan during some of the most tumultuous years of that countries history.  Share in the events that caused many families to abandon their homes and flee to neighbouring countries.

WALKING THE BIBLE by Bruce Feller

This book is the companion to the PBS series by the same name.  With a little research in your TV listings you even be able to read the book and view the documentary at the same time and walk with Moses in his land.
